Our Story

TimberTide – where calm meets craft.

TimberTide began with a small group of artisans who shared the same longing: to slow down, to create with our hands, and to bring a sense of calm back into a busy world.

All of us grew up around simple wooden toys and handmade objects – things carved by parents, relatives, or neighbors who didn’t have much, but knew how to turn raw wood into something magical. Tiny creatures that moved, drifted, flapped… powered by nothing more than clever mechanics and imagination. Those moments stayed with us.

As life grew louder – more screens, more rushing, more noise – we found ourselves returning to those memories. The graceful lift of a manta ray, the slow drift of a jellyfish, the steady rise of a whale, the peaceful glide of a swan. These movements carried a calm we all needed but could never find in modern life.

So we built TimberTide.

Starting in a small workshop filled with wood shavings, brass scraps, and sketch after sketch, our group of makers began designing handcrafted wooden automata inspired by the quiet rhythm of nature. Each artisan brings a different skill – woodworking, mechanical design, finishing, detailing – and every piece is the result of hands, hearts, and patience working together.

We choose real hardwoods for their grain and character, and pair them with simple, elegant mechanisms that create slow, meditative motion. More than decor, each automaton is a reminder to pause, breathe, and reconnect with something real.

We remain small by choice – a tight-knit team crafting pieces in limited quantities, ensuring every movement feels intentional and every finish feels warm and human.
